NEW: Providence Police Investigating If Three Shootings in Past Day Are Related to Mall Stabbing

In total, police are investigating if three reports of shots are tied to the stabbing - including one victim shot in the head.
On Thursday afternoon, GoLocal reported that police responded to Rhode Island Hospital for a report of a man shot in the head, with non-life threatening injuries.

Thursday Evening
Police then responded to the intersection of Dorchester Avenue and Viola Street for a report of shots fired shortly after 6:30 PM on Thursday.
Upon arrival, Police met with a witness whom wished to remain anonymous who showed police a picture of vehicle operating at a high rate of speed on Dorchester Avenue towards Webster Avenue.
Several Patrol units had the vehicle stopped at 29 Elmwood Avenue. The occupants inside were identified, and through investigation it was learned the occupants inside the vehicle weren't involved.
Police were approached by another individual who stated he had his two daughters — ages 4 and 9 — sitting in the rear seat of his vehicle, and while he was driving in a southerly direction on Viola Street his car was hit two times by bullets.
His vehicle had one bullet struck the driver side hood and one bullet struck the front bumper. Police secured the scene and observed two spent shell casings. Anonymous witnesses stated they observed another vehicle circling the area prior to the shooting.
That car according to witnesses was occupied by three white males one in the driver seat and two in the rear seat. A witness observed the male pointing a firearm out of the car window firing rounds at the intersection of Dorchester and Viola Street.
It should be noted 34 Dorchester Avenue is a known Lake Side gang hangout, said police.
Witnesses stated they heard about seven gun shots. Police were flagged down by a complainant later who stated her second-floor apartment was struck by a bullet. Police observed a bullet hole that entered and exited through the wall sheetrock into another wall.
Police were also alerted by a complainant who resides at 23 Viola Street who had a bullet hole inside their residence. Police observed a bullet hole that struck the second floor glass window inside the living room that went through a wall.
Thursday Night
Shortly after 10 PM on Thursday, police were dispatched to 393 Friendship Street for a report of shots fired, after several calls for shots fired were received in the area at this time.
Police then canvassed the immediate areas and located several shell casings in front of 91 West Clifford Street. While on scene, police met and spoke with a resident who stated her vehicle was shot into — police observed the vehicle, which was found to have four bullet holes on the driver's side of the vehicle.
The resident then stated that she was sitting inside of her apartment when she heard multiple gunshots. She came out to check the area when she observed the aforementioned damage to her vehicle. Police were then flagged down at 393 Friendship Street and spoke with individuals who stated that their residence was struck by “bullets.”
Police observed three gunshot holes in the front window and one gunshot hole in the wall on the first-floor living/dining room area.
One of the residents stated that he was in his living room with his infant daughter, when he heard several gunshots and glass breaking in the house. He said he then observed dishes to be shattered and then discovered gunshot holes in the wall.
