Providence Police Investigating Officer's Actions During Last Week's Riots

“The Providence Police Department confirms that there is an active investigation into an incident that occurred amongst the chaos and mayhem that transpired during the destructive events within our city early Tuesday morning,” the city announced on Monday night.

There is an adult male victim being treated at RIH [Rhode Island Hospital] as a result of this incident. No further information is available at this time.”
Last Monday night, GoLocal was first to report that the Rhode Island State Police and Providence Police set up staging to respond to disturbance.
Just after midnight last Tuesday morning, a gathering of hundreds outside of Providence Place Mall turned violent. The crowd burned a Providence Police vehicle, broken and looted dozens of stores in the Mall, and then traveled through the city vandalizing and looting more than 50 stores across the City.
65 were arrested and ten law enforcement officers were injured.
