NEW: Providence Union President Manzotti to Retire

Taft Manzotti, the President of the Providence Fraternal Order of Police, will be retiring after nearly 40 years this December.

"On December 31, 2015, after 37 years of public service I will retire from the Providence Police Department.  As a result, I will not be seeking another term as President of Providence FOP 3 on October 13th, an office that I have held for the past 5 years," said Manzotti.

The Providence FOP is holding elections for Manzotti's successor on Tuesday.

"We're having the vote today, we expect to name the new President this evening," said Manzotti Tuesday morning.
