NEW: Raimondo Taps Second Staffer from Maryland Governor's Administration

RI Governor-elect Gina Raimondo has tapped a second staffer from MD Governor O'Malley -- who is considered to be a dark horse for President in 2016.
Rhode Island Governor-elect Gina Raimondo has announced her nominations for Director of Labor and Training and Director of Human Services -- including her second acquisition of a Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley administration member.

Sources ranging from the New York Times to Politico have pegged O'Malley as a dark horse Democratic candidate for United States President in 2016.

Raimondo has tapped Scott Jensen, currently the Deputy Secretary of the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR), for Rhode Island Director of Labor and Training.  Jensen follows Raimondo's choice of Scott Neuman, the Director of Public Affairs in Maryland for O'Malley, for Chief of Staff.

Raimondo has also nominated Melba Depena to the position of Director of Human Services.  Depena currently serves on Raimondo’s transition staff, and previously served as Director for the Crime Victims Compensation Unit in the office of the General Treasurer.

“A well-trained workforce and a commitment to helping Rhode Islanders when they need it most are the important cornerstones of a government that works,” Raimondo said. “Melba and Scott have the background and experiences that make them the perfect candidates to strengthen Rhode Island for everyone.”
