NEW: Reporters Allowed Back at RI Coronavirus Briefings - See Latest Data & Watch LIVE at 1 PM

Governor Gina Raimondo, at the first coronavirus press conference in RI in March. The State prohibited press from attending press conferences in April.
Reporters will now be allowed at daily coronavirus briefings held by Rhode Island officials, now being held Monday through Friday.

Beginning Monday, May 11, daily press briefings will be held at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Providence.

Members of the press will be able to attend the briefings in-person under allowed safety guidelines, which include only one reporter per outlet, masks are required, and social distancing guidelines are enforced. 

Previously, Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo did not allow Rhode Islanders to hear reporters' questions. 

Nearly all governors across the country and the White House allow reporters to ask questions directly and for the public to hear the questions and the responses.

The Rhode Island Department of Health announced 8 additional COVID-19 fatalities and 176 cases on Monday.
