NEW: Rhode Island Lottery's Big Payout of $10.2 Million in June

The Rhode Island Lottery paid out more than $10.2 million in prizes to its players in the month of June, including $367,416 worth of high-tier prizes.

More than $4.5 million in prizes was paid to Instant Ticket winners, with another $4 million paid out to Keno winners. The rest of the prizes paid were to Wild Money, PowerBall®, Mega Millions®, Lucky for Life®, Daily Numbers, and Bingo winners. Of this $10.2 million, fourteen Rhode Island Lottery tickets claimed were worth $10,000 or more.

While $10.2 million would surely seem a high number for anyone, the payout for last month might seem extraordinarily high. On the contrary, $10.2 million falls right around the average for the RI Lottery's monthly payout. "In the past 12 months, total prizes paid out have been as low as $9.7 million and as high as 13.5 million," said Nicole Mineau at the Rhode Island Lottery. "In May, it was $11.2 million. In March and April, it was $13.3 million. So this month's prizes are actually right in the ball park."
