NEW: RI Recommends Closing Scarborough South and Barrington Beaches Due to Bacteria

The Rhode Island Department of Health announced Wednesday that it recommends closing Scarborough Beach South in Narragansett and Barrington Town Beach for swimming because of high bacteria levels.

Scarborough Beach North remains open for swimming.

RIDOH will continue to monitor and review beach water quality regularly to ensure safe bathing throughout the summer.
