NEW: RI State Police to Investigate Pawtucket Police Body Slamming Incident
The Pawtucket Police said the officer had been assaulted by the student prior; protests that took place Thursday over the incident resulted in ten arrests.
City Councilwoman Sandra Cano told GoLocal prior to Mayor Don Grebien's 5:30 press conference that the State Police have been brought in.

"I have been in contact with the Mayor's office, we're monitoring the situation. We're going to be waiting on an investigation with the state police. What is important is that the city's taking this seriously, and we're closely monitoring the situation."
