NEW: State Unemployment Drops to 10.9 percent

The state's unemployment rate has dropped below 11 percent for the first time since June 2009, according to the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training.

Rhode Island's jobless rate now sits at 10.9 percent, more than two percentage points higher than the national rate, which was 8.3 percent in January.
