NEW: Taveras Communications Director Leaving City Hall

Mike Raia, the communications director for the city of Providence, is leaving the Mayor’s office to become director of media relations & marketing at WGBH in Boston, Raia said on Twitter Monday afternoon.

“Excited to be joining @WGBH as Director of Media Relations & Marketing in the New Year,” Raia tweeted.

Press Secretary David Ortiz will take over the top job beginning in January.

Raia is a Providence College graduate who previously served as press secretary for Maryland Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown.

Ortiz becomes the third communications director during the Taveras administration. In addition to Raia, Melissa Withers left the office to become a marketing director at Betaspring.
