UPDATED: Winds Up to 65 MPH Possible Monday for RI — National Weather Service Issues Weather Watch

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a high wind watch for Rhode Island and New England on Monday — with gusts up to 65 miles per hour possible. 

According to NWS, the watch is effective from "Monday morning through Monday evening."

NWS also says that “a prolonged period of strong southerly winds will lead to elevated water levels across parts of the South Coast and Narragansett Bay.”

...HIGH WIND WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY MORNING THROUGH
MONDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 65 mph
  possible.

* WHERE...Portions of northern Connecticut, central, eastern,
  northeastern, southeastern and western Massachusetts and
  northern and southern Rhode Island.

* WHEN...From Monday morning through Monday evening.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds could blow down trees and power
  lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be
  difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates on this
situation. Fasten loose objects or shelter objects in a safe
location prior to the onset of winds.

...ELEVATED WATER LEVELS EXPECTED MONDAY AFTERNOON ACROSS PORTIONS
OF THE SOUTH COAST OF RHODE ISLAND AND MASSACHUSETTS...

A prolonged period of strong southerly winds will lead to elevated
water levels across parts of the South Coast and Narragansett Bay.
This will coincide with high tide midday Monday into the
afternoon. While no coastal flooding is currently anticipated, it
will be closely monitored.
