NEW: Wyatt Upgraded to 'Good' in Quality Assurance Review

The Wyatt Detention Facility recently upgraded to a ‘Good’ rating as a result of a “Quality Assurance Review,” conducted by a team of federal auditors from the US Department of Justice’s Office of the Federal Detention Trustee.

The recent upgrade to ‘Good’ is only one step below the highest possible rating of ‘Excellent,’ and is an improvement from the 2011, when the facility was rated as ‘Acceptable.’ The ‘Good’ rating is defined as “the level of performance exceeds the requirements of the Federal Performance-Based Detention Standards.”

Steven Harford, Chairman of the Wyatt Detention Facility board of directors was pleased with the recent announcement. “The facility continues to receive high marks and accolades from correctional industry peers. We know we have a top-rate facility and we know the potential is there for long-term economic benefit to the city of Central Falls and to Rhode Island.”

CEO Michael Fair thanked the correctional staff and the facilities management team stating, “We’ve made significant progress over the past 3 years thanks to your ongoing hard work and dedication.”

The assessment, which took place at the Central Falls facility from February 28-March 1, 2012 included interviews with detainees and correctional staff and administrators, tours of the facility, and the review of documents relating to the security and operations of the center. The Office of the Federal Detention Trustee conducts these reviews annually to ensure the safe, secure confinement of federal detainees.
