North Providence Police Arrest Man for Stabbing Father and Girlfriend - Charged with Felony

On Monday, at approximately 3:40 PM, officers responded to 24 Whipple Avenue for a report of a stabbing.

The victim has been identified as Steven Kerzner, age 65.
Officers also made contact with a second victim -- a 60-year-old female identified as Linda Rotella -- who was suffering from a head laceration. Police say she is the girlfriend of Steven Kerzner.
On scene, police arrested Dayne Kerzner, age 36. He is the son of Steven and was not cooperative with the police, according to the report.
The motive for the stabbings is under investigation.
Charges
Kerzner is being charged with felony assault. He was presented before a bail commissioner on Monday and was ordered held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institute.
He will appear before the District Court of the State of RI, Kent County Courthouse on Tuesday where he will appear before a judge for additional court proceedings.
