Multiple people were arrested following a night of out-of-control college parties that saw police across the city called in to disperse large crowds of people in numerous locations.

Providence Police received more than twenty calls for reports of disturbances stemming from large gatherings at off-campus student houses in the city.

Police say that while they were dispersing parties, they were met by hostile crowds — and had bottles thrown at them.

In one incident, police say one man arrested hurled the n-word at two officers.

Providence College student Dylan Curran, age 22, was arrested for disorderly conduct at one scene after reportedly calling two officers the n-word, and then telling them, "f--k you, I'm not going anywhere" when ordered to leave.

About Incidents

Shortly after 11 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to 79 Radcliffe Street for a report of a large party of over fifty people spilling out into the street — and hundreds of people in the backyard.

Police spoke with the resident — a Rhode Island College student — who they say was cooperative and attempted to help police disperse the crowd.

According to police, the party-goers all then took to the street, with hundreds of individuals blocking the road. Additional police districts were called in to assist.

Police also responded to a large party at 36 Tyndall Street -- which they identified as a Johnson and Wales house — and then shortly after 1 at 92 Pembroke Avenue, when they say a glass alcohol bottle was thrown at a police cruiser.

At approximately 2 a.m. Sunday morning, police responded to a report of a man with a gun at 145 Pembroke Avenue.

Police say that as they responded to that location, there was a large group of students on Eaton Street and in the area of Providence College.

When police identified the male whose description had been provided, they said he attempted to leave the scene — and other individuals began to surround police, with one reportedly striking an officer.

Emanuel Gomes Depina, age 20, was arrested for resisting arrest; Scot Demoranville, age 26, was arrested for simple assault; and Anthony Johnson, age 40, was also arrested.
