About Incident

During the game on Wednesday, Providence Police at the AMP said they were approached by a woman who was crying and bleeding from the top of the head.

The victim, a 21-year-old female, said she had been struck in the head with a beer can.  The AMP sells 24-ounce cans of beer -- twice the size of a normal can of beer.

Police the victim was first treated for her injuries at the first aid station at the AMP before being transported by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital for further treatment for the laceration on her head.

The incident reportedly took place in the student section (101) and police are reviewing security footage.

During the game, TV announcers noted that AMP officials used the venue loudspeaker to tell people to stop throwing beer cans.

"We are working with AMP security to try to determine exactly what happened," said Associate VP for Public Affairs, Government & Community Relations Steve Maurano on Thursday morning.
