Just a few miles over the Rhode Island border in Westborough, MA is the abandoned "Westborough Hospital for the Insane."

RI-based photographer Rich Epstein takes us on a tour of the facility.

The hospital was first built in 1876 and expanded repeatedly during the end of the nineteenth century.

The hospital grew to have as many as 1,700 patients around World War II.

Ultimately, the facility was closed in 2010 when Worcester State Hospital was opened. Even today, the facility is in some ways trapped in time.

The property has more than 500 buried in a potter's field.

Now, it is abandoned and opened to the elements and graffiti artists.
