PHOTOS: Brown Alpert Med School Students Join Major State House BLM Rally on Sunday

Medical residents and health professionals at the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University on Sunday organized a march calling for health equity for black lives -- and joined up with a "Generation Z" rally held in support of black lives at the Rhode Island State House. 

The #CodeBlackRI event started at noon on Sunday.

Sponsored by the Brown Minority Housestaff Association, the march kicked off from Rhode Island Hospital at 593 Eddy Street and concluded at the Rhode Island State House.

"The Brown Minority Housestaff Association and members of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University community will march in support of making our health care system more just and equitable," wrote the Alpert Medical School in their statement. 

Speakers from the medical community addressed the disparities in healthcare at the Rhode Island State House.  

Thousands attended the State House rally that is expected to run late into Sunday night.
