Shortly before 5 AM on Monday, Providence police responded to Metro Mart at 221 Thayer Street for a report of a business alarm.

Police said that upon arrival, they found the glass to the front entrance of the business shattered.

According to police, they encountered cigarettes in the business to possibly have been tampered with, reporting that it appeared inventory could have been taken.

Police said they found a large rock in the store they believed was used in the break-in.

Detectives reached out to the store owner and are investigating.
