Police Now Can’t Have Traffic Ticket Quotas

A new law enacted this month bars state and local police from “formally or informally” using traffic ticket quotas. The law likewise prohibits quotas for arrests and investigative stops. (Click here to read the Senate version and here for the House version.)
Lawmakers said the new rules are meant to allow officers to focus on those who violate the law—not follow “arbitrary quotas.”
