Police Respond to Shooting, Stabbing Overnight in Providence

Police responded at 3 a.m. Tuesday morning to Rhode Island Hospital for a report of a shooting victim.

Police spoke with the victim, who stated that he was inside his vehicle sleeping, while the vehicle was parked outside of his residence located at Wallace Street.
The victim told police that he was suddenly woken by his vehicle's driver side door being opened and an unidentified suspect opened fire into the vehicle. He said he could not provide any information, or description of the suspect.
The victim stated he drove himself to the hospital and left his vehicle parked in the front entrance of the hospital. Due to the vehicle possibly having evidence of the incident Police requested consent to search his vehicle, to which he agreed. The vehicle had one bullet hole in the door.
About Stabbing
Police responded around 03:45 am to 825 Chalkstone Avenue for a report of a person with a stab wound.
Upon arrival police met with the victim who stated he was stabbed in the head at his house.
Police later responded to 171 Jastram street to search for a crime scene. The victim's mother said she was awakened yelling and the victim holding the left side of his forehead gushing blood.
Police found a large carving fork with blood present on the front seat of the vehicle. The vehicle was transported to central station and held for further investigation.
