Post Mortem of Hurricane Earl

Hurricane Earl was pretty much a bust here in Rhode Island … thankfully. We got about 1 inch of rain and top wind gusts were only 30 mph. On Cape Cod there were somewhat greater affects. Peak winds topped out around 60 mph and there were some trees toppled here and there, but overall even the Cape and Islands escaped rather unscathed. Earl did weaken as it moved northward from just off the North Carolina coast, however, the main reason we saw so little heavy weather was that Earl tracked very far to the east of Rhode Island. It missed Providence by close to 150 miles.

We are looking at some nice weather to end the official summer season this Labor Day weekend. Mostly sunny skies will prevail throughout with warm weather today, a bit cooler tomorrow and quite comfortable on Monday.
