Potential for Heavy Rain in RI on Saturday, Snow Next Week: National Weather Service

The National Weather Service is saying that rain “could be heavy” at times in Rhode Island on Saturday. 

According to NWS, one to two inches of rain could be possible. 

More rain is possible on Sunday, then snow is “likely” on Tuesday, says NWS.

The following is the NWS forecast for Rhode Island as of 7 AM Friday morning.

Friday

Sunny, with a high near 47. West wind around 6 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.

Friday Night

Rain, mainly after 1am. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 34. Breezy, with an east wind 5 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 25 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Saturday

Rain, mainly before 9am. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 57. Windy, with a southeast wind 21 to 28 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Mostly clear, with a low around 29. Breezy, with a southwest wind 16 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph.
