Providence City Councilman Michael Correia on Sunday reported his vehicle was ransacked — and that multiple other vehicles were targeted.

Correia, who represents Ward 6 which includes the Manton and Mt. Pleasant neighborhoods, said that police apprehended a suspect shortly thereafter.

“After a relaxing day in Dover, New Hampshire. Not even home 1/2 hour, this individual decides he’s going to ransack my vehicle. Police able to apprehend this individual while trying other vehicle doors in Ward 6,” reported Correia on Sunday evening.

About Incident and Arrest

Correia posted photos — and video — of the incident on Gray Street, after being alerted by his neighbor to the alleged crimes.

According to Correia, free skating tickets to the Bank of America skating rink were taken from his car.

Police reported an off-duty officer shortly afterward saw a man checking vehicle handles on Chalkstone Avenue. The officer alerted additional units to the location, at which point the suspect fled on foot.

According to police, the suspect — Michael Sedano — resisted arrest when caught and hurled obscenities at officers.

Sedano will be charged with larceny and disorderly conduct as well as obstructing an officer in the line of duty.
