Providence Declares Parking Ban and Closes Schools

City of Providence has closed schools and declared a parking ban due to expected winter storm conditions.

Providence Public Schools and afterschool activities are canceled for Monday. A citywide parking ban will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Monday and will remain in effect until further notice.

Residents with overnight parking passes are advised that they cannot park on the street during the duration of the citywide parking ban. Vehicles parked on the street in violation of the citywide parking ban will be subject to ticketing and towing to ensure roadways can be cleared.

Garbage Pick Up Pushed Back a Day

Garbage and recycling collection will be suspended on Monday. Collection will be on a holiday schedule, taking place the following day throughout the week with Friday collection taking place on Saturday.

The Department of Public Works has prepared all equipment and personnel to respond to the storm. Roadways will be pretreated ahead of the expected snowfall according to a statement of the City.
