According to Neronha’s office, had the case proceeded to trial, the State was prepared to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that just after midnight on July 1, 2018, Tyrone Williams and a friend parked their car in the area of 189 Gallup Street in Providence and remained in the car to wait for a friend.
While waiting, Arnold Evans circled around the back of the car and began firing shots from a 9mm pistol into the front passenger side at Tyrone Williams. Williams climbed over the driver, exited the car and ran. Evans followed him and fired more shots as he pursued him down Gallup Street.
Williams collapsed at the intersection of Gallup Street and Gordon Avenue.
He was later pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds by the R.I. Office of the State Medical Examiner.
