Residents and businesses are asked to shovel their sidewalks so people can safely get around the city. This is an important public safety concern. Those who still have not cleared snow from the sidewalk in front of their home or business may be subject to a fine.
Property owners are urged to clear snow blocking vents to prevent a potentially fatal buildup of carbon monoxide.

1. It's School Vacation Week
Having the kids home from school on a Monday isn't exactly a new thing this winter, with all of the school cancellations we've had. This week, though, it's actually scheduled time off. Be super careful of kids at play, especially in those neighborhoods where sidewalks haven't been properly cleared. 2. It's President's Day
The kids are off, but many parents are too. This is good news for those who still need to trudge across the frozen tundra to work on Monday morning, as traffic is expected to be less congested than usual. RIPTA is running on a regular weekday schedule, if you'd prefer not to brave the roadways.
3. Expect Delays
As hearty New Englanders we (should) know the drill - bridges, overpasses, and exit ramps freeze before the road does; sometimes the plowing isn't up to par on exit ramps, etc. There's always someone who thinks that "4WD" means that they can drive like it's mid-July, and end up causing an accident that backs everyone up for hours. There's always one or two. Heed the "give yourself extra time" mantra, even with traffic expected to be less than usual tomorrow.

Well, maybe not as bad as this photo from the '78 blizzard, but close in spots. One bright point is that many businesses are closed tomorrow, so you might just be able to find a spot - but you might need snowshoes to get out of your car.
5. Clear Off Your Car!
Not only is it extremely dangerous to yourself and everyone around you on the road, but it's against the law, too. Drivers who fail to clear snow and ice from their vehicles face an $85 fine, along with choice words from your fellow motorists dealing with your traveling avalanche.
