The program is designed to address the issue of lead service lines and plumbing that can contribute to elevated levels of lead in drinking water.

According to Providence Water, there are approximately 12,300 public side lead service lines, and an estimated 25,000 private side lead service lines among Providence Water’s retail customers in Providence, Cranston, North Providence, Johnston and East Smithfield.

A detailed demonstration will show homeowners how to check their plumbing- and offer other tips on how to safeguard against lead.

The demonstration will be held on Monday, May 13 at 2:15 p.m. at the Providence Water Central Operating Facility.
