Raimondo Announces “Pause” Is Over — RI Continues to Have 2nd Highest Number of Cases Per Capita
Starting Monday, businesses like gyms, casinos and other closed indoor venues are back open.
Raimondo made the decision while both the New York Times and Covid ActNow rank Rhode Island as having the 2nd most cases per capita in the country. The hospitalizations increased during the “pause” and now stand at 459 — they were as 410 when the partial shutdown began.

Hours of operation for both Twin River Casino Hotel in Lincoln and the Tiverton Casino Hotel will be 6:00 am – 10:00 pm from Sunday through Thursday and 6:00 am – 10:30 pm on Friday and Saturdays.
Table games and slot machines will be open as will the Sportsbook, stadium gaming and virtual table games. The racebook in Lincoln will also open (closed in Tiverton). The poker room in Lincoln will remain closed.

Rhode Island has had more than 200 deaths in the first half of the month and yesterday alone recorded a near-daily record of 23. The highest number of deaths recorded in Rhode Island in a single day were two days April 30 and May 2, when 24 died.
Rhode Island had limited testing on Thursday due to the snow storm.
National modeling from the University of Washington’s IHME shows that the spread was little impacted by Raimondo’s strategy and the projection for Rhode Island has now jumped to 2,814 COVID-19 deaths based on current projection scenario by April 1, 2021.
