Raimondo Appoints Gill as New Family Court Judge

Raimondo Appoints Felix Gill as New Family Court Judge
Governor Gina Raimondo appointed Felix E. “Feidlim” Gill as a new Associate Justice at the Rhode Island Family Court. 

He will fill the vacancy created by the elevation of Michael B. Forte to Chief Judge. 

"Feidlim brings almost two decades of legal experience to the bench, including serving the past four years as a Family Court Magistrate. I am confident that he will treat everyone who comes before him with compassion and respect,” said Raimondo.

Gill has served the Rhode Island Family Court as a General Magistrate since July of 2013.

Prior to that, he worked as an Assistant Attorney General in the state Attorney General's Criminal Division for 13 years in a number of roles, including as the Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit Chief and the Juvenile Prosecution Unit Chief.

He is also an adjunct professor at Johnson and Wales University, instructing undergraduate students on issues surrounding juvenile justice.

He has trained local and state police officers on juvenile justice, and serves on the Rhode Island Justice Commission's Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee.

Gill earned his law degree from the Suffolk University School of Law and his undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Rhode Island.

He lives in Narragansett with his wife and children. He is the brother-in-law to Senate Majority Leader Michael McCaffrey.
