Governor Gina Raimondo is directing U.S. and Rhode Island flags at all state agencies and buildings to be flown at half-staff in honor of Senator John McCain.

McCain passed away at age 81 on Saturday night following a battle with brain cancer.

"John McCain was a war hero, dedicated patriot and true fighter until the very end. He wore our nation's uniform with honor as a Navy pilot and represented Arizona in Congress for nearly four decades. His death is a loss for our nation, but especially for his loved ones. Andy and I are keeping the entire McCain family in our thoughts and prayers,” said Raimondo.
