RI Blood Center Needs Donors after Blizzard Juno

The Rhode Island Blood Center is seeking volunteer donors to help recoup the loss of donations from Tuesday after Blizzard Juno left them unable to operate.

“Regardless of the weather, patients in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts depend on the blood donations of others in our community.” said Eric St. Peter of Rhode Island Blood Center. “If you can donate over the next few days, we ask you please give the gift of life to someone who will need it.”

The Rhode Island Blood Center needs 250-280 donors a day to keep up with the demands of providing blood to every Rhode Island hospital. Platelet donors are in high demand because the shelf life for platelet is only 5 days.
