Rhode Island Still Pushing for Federal Funds for Hurricane Sandy
Governor Lincoln Chafee announced this week that the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency has submitted a revised request to President Barack Obama for declaration of a major disaster for the State of Rhode Island.

Governor Chafee specifically requested Individual Assistance for Bristol County. On November 2, the Governor requested a declaration for Public Assistance for Bristol, Newport, and Washington Counties, which was subsequently granted on November 3 by the President. On November 14, the President approved the Governor’s amended request for Individual Assistance for Newport and Washington Counties. Today’s revised request is based on additional data collected during the assessment process.

Specifically, in this amendment, the Governor has requested Individual Assistance (including the Individuals and Households Program (IHP), Disaster Unemployment Assistance, Disaster Legal Service, and Crisis Counseling) and Small Business Administration disaster loans for Bristol County.
