RI DOT Announces Overnight Closures of Route 6 Starting June 20

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) announced a two-night temporary closure for a portion of Route 6 in Providence near Hartford Ave. exit.

According to RIDOT, the closures are needed for the demolition phase of the $10.8 million Woonasquatucket River Bridge project.

On Thursday, June 20 from midnight to 5 a.m., RIDOT will close Route 6 East at the Killingly Street exit.

All traffic will follow a detour along Hartford Avenue to bypass the work zone.

On Friday, June 21 from midnight to 5 a.m., the Department will close Route 6 West with all traffic exiting onto Hartford Avenue and getting back on the highway at the Killingly Street interchange.

All construction projects are subject to changes in schedule and scope depending on needs, circumstances, findings, and weather.
