RI Expands Vaccine Eligibility to 50-Year-Olds Starting April 5, Will State’s Website Perform?

The failed Rhode Island Department of Health vaccine signup website is about to get its next test.

RIDOH has announced a new timeline for vaccinations by age —  people in their 50s can begin scheduling by April 5, followed by people in their 40s the following week (April 12) and the rest of the population — those 16 and older on April 19. 

Repeatedly the state’s signup site has failed and thrown off error messages frustrating users.

RI Cases Per Capita Continue to Inch Upwards

According to Covid ActNow, Rhode Island has seen a steady, creeping increase in cases per 100,000 from 31.2 to 35.4 over the past two weeks.

Dr. Michael Fine, the former Rhode Island Director of Health, warns that there are growing indications that there is an ever-increasing amount of variants in the state and this is fueling this upward tick during a period in which spread should be decreasing due to vaccinations.

New Regional Vaccination Centers — South Kingstown and Woonsocket

Starting Saturday, March 27, an estimated 400 doses will be available at the Schneider Electric campus, located at 132 Fairgrounds Road in South Kingstown.

On Sunday, 400 shots will be available at the former Sears store on Diamond Hill Road in Woonsocket.
