VIDEO: RI Firefighters Carry 96-Year-Old Female Army Veteran Down Lincoln Memorial Steps

It was already a special day as 44 female military veterans traveled to Washington, D.C. for an Honor Flight from T.F. Green Airport, but when the elevator broke at the Lincoln Memorial, the day turned amazing.

Rhode Island firefighters -- and a member of the board of directors of the Honor Flight --  jumped into action and made sure a 96-year-old veteran could navigate the Lincoln Memorial.

The Rhode Islander who received the special treatment was Madeline Gray, a U.S. Army Veteran.
