RI Man Who Killed Girlfriend and Put Body in Refrigerator Sentenced to Life

The man found guilty of killing his girlfriend in March of 2022 — and putting her body in a refrigerator — has been sentenced to life in prison.

On Tuesday, Nathan Cooper was sentenced to two life sentences — plus twenty years — for the murder of Sherbert Maddox.

Providence police said Wednesday that the deceased body of the woman discovered on Parkis Street was found inside a refrigerator. 

As GoLocal first reported, police were on the scene early Tuesday morning at 43 Parkis Street to investigate. 

Now, Nathan Cooper, age 53, has been charged in the homicide of Sherbert Maddox, age 40. 

According to police, the woman had been shot and killed before she was wrapped in saran wrap and towels and placed in the refrigerator. 

Police say the homicide could have taken place as early as Sunday.
