RI Monthly Names GoLocalProv.com Best Website in RI

Each year the readers of RI Monthly are asked to vote on the "Best of Rhode Island" and they identify the very best places to eat, best newscaster and the best website. In 2012, the voters tapped some of Rhode Island's best known icons with their choices

But upstart GoLocalProv - the RI-based media company - crashed the proverbial gala and was selected Best Statewide Local Website.

"We are excited to receive such a great honor. We are competing against some of the biggest media companies in the country, but we believe we are able to succeed due to our commitment to high-quality local content," said Co-Founder and CEO Josh Fenton.

GoLocalProv.com features a staff that includes weatherman John Ghiorse, sports editors Scott Cordischi and John Rooke, features editor Tracey Minkin and a news team lead by Dan McGowan and Stephen Beale.

The statewide website launched in 2010 and quickly established itself as a leader in investigative journalism, breaking the biggest news stories and offering the widest range of lifestyle of everything Rhode Island.

In late 2011, GoLocalProv.com launched GoLocalTV, a daily video news broadcast. In the past year, GoLocalProv has grown by more than 500% and now delivers more than 2.3 million pageviews per month.
