RI Restaurant Facing Fallout After Posting Anti-Semitic Anne Frank Meme

A Rhode Island restaurant is facing backlash after posting an offensive Anne Frank meme.

The Atlantic Sports Bar & Restaurant in Tiverton posted a meme that had a photo of Frank along with copy that said, “It’s hotter than an oven out there…and I should know.”

Frank was killed at age 15 at the hands of Nazi Germany after being sent to the Auschwitz then Bergen-Belsen concentration camps.

One of the most-discussed Jewish victims of the Holocaust, she gained fame posthumously with the 1947 publication of The Diary of a Young Girl in which she documents her life in hiding from 1942 to 1944, during the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II.

The meme was taken down after complaints. 

While the restaurant has not acknowledged the controversy on its Facebook page — people are condemning the business for what transpired.
