UPDATED: RI Police Officer Involved in Shooting, Says Manni

The Rhode Island State Police have confirmed that a member of the fugitive task force was involved in a shooting on Wednesday. 

"I will confirm that Rhode Island State Police have been involved in an officer-involved shooting," said Col. James Manni in a statement.

The shooting reportedly occurred in Woonsocket and the individual who was shot has died.

"The Rhode Island Attorney General protocol has been initiated to investigate," Manni added. "No further comment at this time."

The Rhode Island State Police planned press conference scheduled for Thursday, April 28 at 9:00 AM at Rhode Island State Police Headquarters has been canceled.
