RI Unemployment Rate Declines to 11.5 Percent

The state unemployment rate has dipped down to 11.5 percent, according to the latest job numbers released by the Rhode Island Department of Labor today.

The rate represented a decrease of just one tenth of percent from the rate in November—but it was a much more significant improvement from a year ago, when the jobless rate was 12.7 percent.

Nationwide, the U.S. unemployment rate was 9.4 percent in December 2010.
