RIDOT: Lane Restrictions for Bridge Repair Near Providence Place Mall

Providence Place Mall
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) will implement lane restrictions for Promenade Street and Providence Place at their intersection with Park Street adjacent to the rear entrance to Providence Place Mall for bridge repairs.

The lane restrictions will begin on Monday, April 1 and remain in place through late summer.

“RIDOT will close the left lane on Promenade Street and Providence Place to provide a safe construction zone for the work. Providence Place is a one-way road with traffic heading east toward the mall, and Promenade Street is one-way heading west away from the mall toward Pleasant Valley Parkway. The roads run parallel to the Woonasquatucket River,” said the RIDOT in their press release.

Bridge Repairs

According to RIDOT, repairs will be made to two concrete piers that support the ramp that carries traffic from Route 6 East and Memorial Boulevard to I-95 North.

RIDOT adds that “All the work will take place below the structure and traffic on the ramp will not be impacted.”

All access to and from the mall parking garage will be maintained.

The restrictions include:

Providence Place: Two through lanes will be open. With the closure of the left lane, the center lane will be used for traffic headed for Promenade Street. The right lane will be a shared lane for traffic either heading onto Park Street or into the mall parking garage.

Promenade Street: Promenade Street will only have the right lane available at the intersection with Park Street.
