RIDOT Announces Upcoming Bridge Closures

Newman Avenue Bridge to be closed
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) has announced that both Newman Avenue Bridge in East Providence and the Central Street Bridge in North Smithfield will be closed on Monday.  

The closure of the Central Street Bridge also involves temporary closures of some portions of Route 146. 

The RIDOT are also scheduled to replace the Pawtucket Avenue Bridge which carries Pawtucket Avenue over I-195 in East Providence. The first in a series of required weekend bridge closures is set for Friday, March 31.

Bridge Closures 

Apponaugh Circulator, Warwick 

Route 117 (Centerville Road), east of Meadow Street to Post Road, remains closed to through traffic for bridge work. Local traffic access is being maintained to the businesses.

RIDOT also anticipates drainage work on Wednesday and Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day at Post Road village.

Division Street Bridge, Pawtucket

Crews will be off site doing some retention basin work in the lot adjacent to the bridge, with no lane closures anticipated.

Hamlet Avenue Bridge, Woonsocket 

RIDOT will continue steel repairs and bridge support installation at the Northeast, Southwest and Southeast ends of the bridge. 

Newman Avenue Bridge, East Providence 

RIDOT is scheduled to close Route 152 North and South at the Newman Avenue Bridge from Pleasant Street to the Massachusetts State Line from 7 a.m. on Monday through 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. 

Pawtucket Avenue Bridge, East Providence 

RIDOT is set to replace the Pawtucket Avenue Bridge in East Providence, and it will close for the weekend starting Friday, March 31. 

Providence River Pedestrian Bridge, Providence 

Micropyles at the west abutment were cut to the required finished elevations. East bank shoreline work continued with he removal of riprap in the areas of the new river wall. Next week concrete demolition and micropyle installation will continue.
