RI’s Coronavirus Reality and Raimondo’s National PR — How RI Lost the War — A GoLocal Film

This GoLocal Film titled RI’s Coronavirus Reality and Raimondo’s National PR — How RI Lost the War — looks at the duality of the one-year anniversary of the coronavirus hitting the state and the imminent confirmation of Governor Gina Raimondo to serve as President Joe Biden’s United States Secretary of Commerce.

We launch this film on March 1, 2021, as it is a day of milestones in Rhode Island.

It is the one-year anniversary of the first positive case of the coronavirus. It was an event that would transform Rhode Island’s economy.

Thousands would die. More than 125,000 would be infected.

Data shows that Rhode Island may have been the worst at managing the pandemic.

Rhode Island is the only state to be in the top ten for both deaths and cases per capita -- Rhode Island is third in the country in each category.

The statistics are simply staggering. In December, Rhode Island had the highest infection rate in the world. The rollout of the vaccination program has been the worst in the country.

The Raimondo PR machine however painted a different picture. On national news networks and in publications like Politico and Bloomberg, Raimondo said she followed the data to great success.

This is the second production of GoLocal Films -- the first, “The King of Rhode Island - Nick Mattiello in Lockdown” - A GoLocal Film was released in October.
