What to Find Where

The Museum’s Upper Farago Gallery will feature recent acquisitions in the collection created by local artists, and video works selected guest curator Dina Deitsch (Contemporary Art Curator, deCordova Museum) will be screened in the Spalter New Media Gallery.

Lower Farago Gallery will be transformed into a multifaceted programming space where invited artists, designers, performers, and other community members can creatively curate, teach, and experiment through a variety of participatory events.

Accordng to the museum, the Lower Farago Gallery will be an "experimental space—One Room—with roots in New England’s long tradition of community storytelling, performance, and knowledge sharing. The heart of the space is a new but nostalgic interactive installation, School House Long House, in which invited artists, designers, performers, brainiacs, and other community innovators share their ideas and processes through daily talks, creative experiments, art demonstrations, and unexpected happenings."

Type of One Room exhibits will include:

The Artist's Lab: Become part of the experiment in these drop-in labs run by contemporary artists who invite participants to experience their diverse artistic visions.

Assembly: Gather for casual meetings of the minds and unexpected happenings curated by local artists and designers. Congregate for poetry readings, sonic performances, movement, projections, and more.

Demo & Discourse: Artists, designers, and experts from across disciplines and mediums share examples of their work and talk about process.

Office Hours: Artists, designers, experts, and brainiacs take the doors off of their offices and studios. Stop by for conversation or advice

Spotlight: Performance as art, art as performance.

Locally Made is supported by Dr. Joseph A. Chazan and Robert and Judy Mann. Support for Design the Night is provided by the Providence Tourism Council and the City of Providence, Angel Taveras, Mayor.
