Scituate in Turmoil - Democrats Announce Police Chief Placed on Leave

“Deputy Chief Todd Rich is now the acting Chief of the Department. When was this decided? How was it decided? What meeting was held? The public deserves to know what has happened,” said the statement.
Saturday night's emergency meeting was canceled at the last moment.

An update on tonight's emergency Town Council meeting:
-There was a quorum. Town Council members Fredrickson, Grande, Groves, and D'Agostino were present in the front of the Town Hall chambers. Two town solicitors were also present. Some residents state that Councilman Collins was in another room.
-The Fire Marshall announced that capacity was not met, but was approaching capacity. Again, the room was NOT at capacity.
-Council Vice President Groves stated (paraphrased) that they were not at capacity but that it may be met soon, and that the meeting was therefore cancelled.
This emergency meeting was announced less than an hour before it was to be held, on the hottest evening of the year.
Who called for this meeting? (Councilman Grande was unwilling to answer this question when asked by a member of the public.)
What did our Police Chief allegedly do to cause such a meeting to come to fruition?
Why was President Brady not present?
Why was the meeting cancelled? The building was not at capacity. If capacity was met, then it could be moved to a larger venue.
A new meeting date has not been announced.
We feel that the actions made tonight by our Town Council were inappropriate. Residents made an effort to be involved in a matter that affects our entire community and were brushed aside. More to come as this situation develops.
