Senate Committee to Hear Bill on Fraud and Waste

The Senate Finance Committee will hold hearings tomorrow on bills that would establish an inspector general in Rhode Island and put state agency budgets online.

The inspector general would investigate fraud, waste, and abuse of public funds. The online budgets would be modeled after the state General Treasurer’s Web site.

Both bills, which have been introduced by State Senator Lou Raptakis, will come before the committee 3 p.m. tomorrow in Room 211 at the State House.
