Senator Indicted on Bank Fraud Pleads Not Guilty

An indictment released last week alleges that Maselli, a real estate tax attorney who lives in Johnston, falsified bank and tax forms and lied about how much money he was earning in order to get $1.5 million worth of mortgages. Maselli sought five mortgages for homes that he owned in Johnston and North Providence, as well as a car loan, according to U.S. Attorney Peter Neronha.
Maselli was released on $10,000 unsecured bond and was barred from traveling outside of Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.
