Should Occupy Providence be allowed to protest without a permit?

Recently, the Boston police arrested 100 Occupy Boston protesters after they created an encampment in Dewey Square. Starting this weekend, Providence's own protest begins, but unlike previous protests Public Safety Commissioner Steven Pare has given the green light to Occupy Providence for their event without a permit.

Not only is there not a permit - the required portable restrooms, trash removal and police details have not been secured by the group. In Boston, the cost for police over time has exceeded more than $140,000.
