About Incident

Shortly before 1 PM on Friday, police on patrol in Silver Lake said they saw a heavily tinted black SUV speeding on Pocasset Avenue.

Police said they began to follow the vehicle — a Mercedes — which proceeded to drive faster to try and evade the officers.

At that time, additional police units were called due to the safety hazard to other motorists.

Police say the vehicle ultimately rolled over on Route 10, at which time the driver and male passenger fled the vehicle.

The passenger, a male in his late 20s, was apprehended by police at the scene.

The driver — later identified as Brian Medina, age 27 — was later found to have entered a residence on Avon Street where he was arrested without incident.

Police say a gun was located inside the overturned vehicle, which a police search found to be reported stolen.

Medina is facing multiple charges.
