BREAKING: Stabbing at ACI Maximum Security

The ACI in Cranston is on lockdown following a fight between two inmates in maximum security on Monday morning. 

According to the RI Department of Corrections, one inmate was taken to the hospital with a stab wound.

A second inmate is being questioned about the incident.

J.R. Ventura, Chief of Information and Public Relations Officer issued the following statement:

“We received information from Maximum Security that an altercation occurred between two inmates. One inmate was taken to the hospital to be treated for what appears to be a stab wound; he was conscious, alert and responsive. The other inmate is being questioned about the incident. The facility is on lockdown to make sure the area is secured, and safety protocols were activated as part of our normal response procedures. This seems to be an isolated incident. No other individuals were involved, and the matter is currently under investigation. All other staff and inmates inside the facility are safe.”
